So, news is finally coming out of Square Enix about this game that was first announced 3 years ago! That news shows that DQ10 is going to follow in the sloppy footsteps of DQ9 and be a half-assed MMORPG that may or may not have a subscription fee. Why, Square Enix? Why must you destroy your greatest creations?

You're absolutely correct, zam. Actually, emulated NES games are far superior to the original system because:1. You don't have to blow on anything to make it work.2. Save states allow you to save in any game, even ones that didn't originally support battery back-up or passwords.3. Region free access to foreign games, sometimes with fan-translation patches available.Unfortunately, Wii64 isn't ready for prime-time yet. It can play a few of the N64 'staples,' but chokes or crashes on some of the …
Super Mario Bros. 3

It's interesting to note, though, that back in 1990 when SMB3 was released, my tolerance for sitting in front of a screen capped at a half hour. Even when I first got access to the Internet, I'd only use it in half-hour sessions. This tendency also explains why SNES RPGs lasted for months instead of days. Now I spend probably 12 hours per day staring at a screen.

It's nearly identical, except that the character starts with a variety of weapons and none of them have energy meters. Jumping is the same and the character has a chargeable wand shot. One of the subweapons launches a broom that moves similarly to the rocket sled/Rush Jet. I didn't play very much and only got part way through the first level.

Some well-spoken points there, Alex. But don't forget that we have been able to save or get passwords since the NES days. The Mega Man series was password-driven, but that didn't make it any easier. It just allowed the player to take a break from the frustration without having to start at the beginning each time (or leave their NES on for days on end). You loved Mario 64 because you were able to embrace and enjoy the new 3D platformer genre it created. I couldn't; I wanted more 2D Mario, which …
Rock Band 3

Yep all Rock Band/Guitar Hero games that I played were basically the same and offered me nothing new other than the songs I could play. The instrument idea is a good one, but it won't hit a home run like the games did when they first came out. Might as well close it's doors on this type of game.
