"Driver"

Although clearly derived from the GTA games, Driver was the first to create a convincing 3D world for the idea and the nice physics, decent graphics and solid AI make for tire-squealing, cop-dodging fun. On the downside it is very samey (every mission is basically "drive from A to B in the time limit") but it was a bit of a ground breaker and does exactly what it set out to do with some style.
