You know the saying "You can't judge a book by its cover"? Truth be told, you can judge most of this game based on the title. If you don't like the Warriors games, then this game won't change your mind. But if you do, than this may be a title worth your time. That's the short of it.
So what exactly does Hyrule Warriors have to offer? Well as I've said, if you've played a Warriors game before (Dynasty, Samurai, or even Dynasty Warriors Gundam), then you'll be able to pick this up with no problem. The game is a hack and slash brawler where your goal is to capture keeps, and take down hundreds of brain dead enemies. You basically do this the entire game. Now this may sound repetitive, but the truth is it's a fun kind of repetitive. The enjoyment of these games is the feeling of mowing down these legions of enemies with ease. It's mindless fun, mindless fun which I've enjoyed from the Warriors games for some time.
Though as this game is a Zelda themed Warriors games, there are some Zelda elements sprinkled in. Such as the inclusion of a few giant bosses from series past, like King Dodongo, and Gohma. These bosses don't exactly go down like standard enemies, obviously, so you need to put them in a helpless state with the use of a sub weapon and deplete their stamina meter. If you've played a 3D Zelda before, it'll be a breeze, bomb King Dodongo's mouth, shoot an arrow in Gohma's eye, pretty easy stuff. These sub weapons can also be used to traverse some parts of some levels and break certain obstacles.I at the very least appreciate that the game rewards you for exploring the maps, though it'll be for rupees most of the time, with the occasional heart piece.
Another thing I like about this game is the character selection. Once again reaching through the Zelda series for some of its memorable characters, aside from Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. Though while the size may not be as large as most Warriors games, the fact that some characters have alternate weapons, such as the Magic rod for link, or the Wind Waker for Zelda, I think makes up for it.
So you might be wondering "Do they give some sort of reason for all these characters being here?" The answer is yes actually. So let me tell you of a tale that will not have a place on the official timeline: Somewhere between the realms of time and space there existed a Sorceress whom observed time and its inhabitants. And while she may have seen many souls, none caught the attention more than our Hero of Time, Link. However to her dismay, Link's soul is already spoken for as its destiny is tied to that of Zelda. With despair in her heart, a darkness corrupts her and separates her into two beings, Lana and Cia. With her new found dark powers, Cia seeks to claim Links soul by bending time and space with the power of the Triforce. So that leaves it up to Link and his companions to save the land from Links obsessive fangirl. Oh and Ganondorf shows up in the end to do his thing. Nothing huge. The story does its job at the very least to bring these characters together.
The game also features Free Mode, which allows you to play any of the story missions with anyone. A challenge mode, that pits you in various battles with certain restrictions. Then there's Adventure Mode, which is basically a mission mode where you can win item cards to use on a map of the original Legend of Zelda to earn various rewards, like heart pieces, gold skulltula's, which make their return, and some of the characters you don't get from Story mode. The game can also play in co-op, which works pretty well, though there are moments of slow down, but it doesn't get in the way or make the game completely unplayable.
Just like I said in the beginning, if you aren't a fan of the Warriors games, then this game really isn't worth the purchase. But fans of the Warriors games, and the Zelda series will get an enjoyment out of this. Now if only they would announce who the characters are in the Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask DLC packs! My anticipation can't take much more, ESPECIALLY after the agonizing wait for Smash Bros.' release on 3ds, and EVEN STILL for the Wii-u version!

Hyrule Warriors Review comment
I'm planning a review of this game too, but my would be from the point of view of someone who NEVER played a Dynasty game before, so it'll be interesting to see what conclusions I come to compared to this review.
