Magicka Review comment
Didn't even know about controller support. I don't know if I even had the Xbox controller adapter for my PC when we played. Honestly, I think I still would have played with a keyboard if the other option is selecting elements with a thumbstick. It might be more visual (and less prone to mistakes?) but sounds way slower. I'm curious how it works for you.
The Gauntlet remake that came out last year on Steam had a similar playstyle for the Wizard (using an Xbox controller) that I really …

It's disappointing that you didn't even mention that the game includes native Xinput (read: Xbox) controller support. This review had be terrified, as Magicka is up next on our online coop list. I had no idea how I was going to map that cluster-eff control scheme you described with Xpadder, but it turns out I won't have to!

How can a Japanese game be made in Texas and a Western game be made in Japan? If you want to argue that "J" and "W" are styles and not just ignorant regional elitism, I don't know what to tell you.

To answer your question, yes I did play on a new 3ds. I thought the camera was a nice touch. The c-stick wasn't as sensitive as I would have liked, but it still did its job.

And I know I've shared these before, but the RPG-haters at Extra Credits did a three-part video series about the differences between WRPGs and JRPGs. They don't think the W and J set them apart ENOUGH, and should be separated even more distinctly.

Oh, and since it's basically the source for all video game news right now, I present the JRPG reddit page. Filled with RPG haters, I'm sure.

It helps if you realize it's not a gaming "slur" - for lack of a better word.
IGN, Gamespot, Game Informer... all used the term within the first PARAGRAPH of their overwhelmingly glowing reviews of Bravely Default, no one giving it less than an 8.0. RPG-haters, then?
On MetaCritic, the first five reviews listed (and as a result, five of the highest reviews given) all use it somewhere in the body of the review. RPG-haters, I assume?
Gamespot circled back around to give BD their 3DS Game of …

I still find it astonishing that we share such similar views of RPGs, yet you keep using that blasphemous term created by RPG-haters.
Is this somehow like gay people embracing the term "queer" as some sort of badge of honor?

Before the Bravely Default demo, I'd have totally agreed. But after the demo, at least Square Enix seems capable of occasionally FINDING someone who can make a good JRPG.

You did a great job of making the game actually sound appealing during those early paragraphs before revealing the horrible monster beneath the surface.
Square-Enix just can't seem to get ANYTHING right anymore!
