I got the laser with deck. Seemed more common place to find when I was searching. Be sure to buy the right deck. I took the PS3 apart to find the exact model #, it's printed on the deck.

The problem ended up being the blueray laser. What is happening is the laser is getting weak, and a weak laser can still play single layer blurays just fine. The dual layer bluerays take a stronger laser in order to read the disk. After replacing the laser, I've had zero issues. Finding a replacement laser can be tricky, as there are many sold on Ebay. The one we purchased was around $35, claimed brand new, but I have my doubts. Either way, that is the solution. I should get the next videos up on YouTube that demonstrate how to replace the laser. But there are many others already on YouTube if you just search.
