The famous quote by Martin Niemoller remains perpetually evergreen in its relevance. As the censoriousness of the Woke Left grows ever stronger and demanding, the list of stances, be they overtly political, politicized, or apolitical, that falls under the blanket of “Hate Speech” and “Hate Crimes” grows ever wider. First social media became infested with Wokeness, but I didn’t know or care because I don’t use social media. Then mainstream media – magazines, newspapers, television, and movies – became infested with Wokeness, but it didn’t matter because those forms of media have been obsolete since the rise of the Internet. But now Wokeness is coming for gaming and the new media, but there’s no one left to reach out to for backup.
Seven Democratic lawmakers are submitting letters to almost the entire length, breadth, and depth of the Games Industry, demanding that these companies work to censor what gamers can say on their platforms in the name of combating ‘harassment and extremism.’ ‘Harassment’ is already illegal, both in-person and digitally. Nobody in their right mind wants to deal with cyber-stalking, doxing, and the type of bullying most gaming enthusiasts use videogames to escape. But what’s that about extremism?
Apparently, the Woke Left just can’t stop seeing Nazis (as satirized by “The Babylon Bee”). They’re everywhere, under every rock, behind every tree, and lurking beneath every bed, just waiting to sink their claws into impressionable young minds… or maybe that’s the Alphabet Soup Gender People… I can’t really keep track of who’s a card carrying Fascist anymore.
Apparently, online trash talk – which I have never enjoyed nor participated in – is just filled with Nazi propaganda and imagery meant to radicalize and indoctrinate the youth, along with a steady stream of identity-based insults and microaggressions. It couldn’t possibly be that – and this is just spitballing – these youth are the ones shitposting “Nazi propaganda” themselves because they’re at the age of rebellion and they know that posting anything considered more conservative than Bernie Sanders will get a hilariously overblown reaction from the so-called “grown-ups” in the room?
Kids are idiots. But in today’s Woke, virtue signaling world, apparently the adults are, too.
