Welcome back to another installment of the MeltedJoystick Review Round-Up. Here’s what our staff has reviewed since last time:
Nelson’s Reviews:
Summer was kind to me and allowed me a significant amount of free time to plow through a portion of my backlog. It really helps that so many Indie games are short and can be completed in a single session. Amongst the wide variety of stuff I played this Summer were a couple of unfairly maligned RPGs, some overrated crap, and a rare perfect-scoring platformer.
“TowerFall Ascension” – 3/5
“The Last Remnant” – 4/5
“Shantae: Risky’s Revenge” – 4/5
“Coldfire Keep” – 3.5/5
“Skyborne” – 4.5/5
“Dungeonland” – 2/5
“Fable Anniversary” – 2.5/5
“Sword Coast Legends” – 4/5
“Mercenary Kings” – 4.5/5
“Freedom Fall” – 5/5
“Rocket Knight” – 4/5
“Megabyte Punch” – 4/5
“Glare” – 3/5
Chris’ Reviews:
Chris, on the other hand, did not have a particularly liberating Summer season. Outside of the co-op games that we all played, he only managed to get through two titles on his own. No, neither of them is “Fallout 4” – instead Chris frittered his free time away on throw-away nonsense and parodies.
“TowerFall Ascension” – 3.5/5
“Crush Crush” – 3.5/5
“Dungeonland” – 2/5
“South Park: The Stick of Truth” – 4/5
“Mercenary Kings” – 4/5
“Megabyte Punch” – 4/5
Featured User Review:
This month’s Featured Review slot goes to veteran user-review-writer, dbarry_22, who has returned after a long hiatus to bring us a nicely detailed write up of ‘Mega Man’ spiritual successor, “Mighty No. 9.” This review meets all of our criteria here at Melted Joystick, and aligns with the general, tepid opinion most reviewers hold toward that game (I’ll still grab it off Steam when it gets cheap enough, though!). Unfortunately, dbarry_22 played the WiiU version of the game instead of the Steam version, so he won’t be able to claim a coveted mention within Steam’s Curator system. Well done, nonetheless!
