Yeah, it's amazing how much devs could cram into a few K back in the day.Of course, you might be surprised to learn that most Wii games, once all the filler data has been scrubbed out, are under 1 GB. WiiSports is something like 320 MB.

I did give the homebrew channel a good rating! It was kind of a strange trip loading about 1200 NES games and another 200 or so SNES games all with a 2GB SD card onto my wii. The fact that those NES games are UNDER .5 MB is just shocking to see.. most are like 20 kb or something.

Alex, it's easily found through the roms these days to play. With a few slight modifications, my Wii plays baseball stars perfectly just like it played on my NES... the only difference is that now I never have to worry about my team being erased, and I can play it on a large flat screen tv. The downside being that I no longer live in the dorms so I don't have a collection of ten buddies up for a game at any time. I would love to play this game online against other people passionate about it.. i always thought that surely there was no way I could be beaten on this game... I am sure that is wrong though.

I have never played it. Sounds like I may have to though, but I am not sure if it will ever beat RBI baseball!

I remember reading EGM years ago, but I don't remember what you mention. I do know that "sports gamers" and "RPG/Platformer/Shooter Gamers" are usually a completely different genre of people. I like them all.. but certainly there's a lot of guys who just weren't into sports that chastised that segment of the market.I don't like today's baseball games really at all. I also think Madden lost touch with the average gamer years ago.Baseball stars to me transcended baseball a little because it was the first game that tracked stats and allowed you to customize your players and run your franchise. &nb sp; It was actually enjoyable without even playing the baseball games due to good simulation for its time.However, I still think the game has some of the most intuitive, simple and effective controls for managing a simple baseball game. And for that I think it's just a well made game regardless of one's opinion of the game of baseball or their opinion of sports in general.   ; I know the game has a good cult following online.. but it's true that many non-sports gamers may not appreciate it.

Sports games are VERY divisive. Do you recall when Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine refused to review them because all of their reviewers hated the genre? Due to reader pressure, they hired one guy to review only sports games, and they crammed all of those reviews on one page separate from the real games.

well, i hate golf but i'm not going to go rate all the golf games 1 or 2 stars just because i don't like the sport. I think the Tiger Woods games are actually really deep and complex.. they are probably good video games, just not enjoyable to me.. but not a flaw with the sport or the game.
