Slightly better graphics and animation and more characters, but the difference between them is little more than cosmetic. Superficial and repetitive.

I'll give it points for being better than the original Mortal Kombat, but just barely. It still relies on the one-trick pony of being ultra-violent (at the time) at the expense of pretty much everything else. An improvement, but I still stand by my first choice of the Street Fighter series.

I felt this was the fighting game that started it all (kind of). Sub Zero and Scorpion, who could beat them. "Get Over Here!" and "Finish Him" would ring through to pop culture and beyond through the 90s. Even many of the fighting games copied the formula. Probably the best MK game.
