A technically brilliant reinvention of one of the best platform adventures ever created, but with one glaring flaw: the lack of save points. Death in Metroid Prime amounts to cruel and unusual punishment.

Big Risk, Big Reward

Metroid Prime is a great example of a big risk, big reward scenario. It was a big risk changing what was once a 2D platforming only series into a FPS and making it into a great game. I'll be honest, As a big fan of Metroid and Super Metroid, I was hesitant to give this a shot. I'm glad I did.

Arguably the best game released on the Nintendo Gamecube, Metroid Prime kept the weapons, upgrades, bosses, and most importantly the Metroid feel and successfully transplanted it into the FPS genre. The auto-aim feature and lock abilities kept this game from becoming too much FPS and not enough adventure. I had a lot of fun playing this when before I thought …
