Synopsis: A young woman falls to a curse that is slowly turning her in a grotesque beast. Her pledged love, Aeron, vows to save her. Seeking the help of of the witch Mavda, he learns that in order to save he beloved he must brave 13 towers, take on the 13 monsters and bring their meat for her to eat. But time is of the essence - the longer he takes, the worse the curse affects her, the final outcome will be determined by the bond he forms and the time it takes to conquer each tower.

A New IP that Pounds Old IPs into the Dust

“Pandora’s Tower” (“PT”) is the third and final game that appeared on the Operation Rainfall list of localization demands. While both “Xenoblade Chronicles” and “The Last Story” were RPGs that were picked-up by North American companies for localization (Nintendo of America and Xseed respectively), “PT” was neither. Instead, “PT” is an Action/Adventure game by Namco-and-Nintendo second-party developer, Ganbarion, a company more widely known for its fighting games based on “Shonen Jump” manga. After a long wait, during which I almost decided to skip “PT” due to its Action/Adventure pedigree and some less-than-positive hearsay, I finally decided to import the Limited Edition box from the United Kingdom. Curses! I had to pre-order an NA copy to sit next to my EU copy. I hate that I have to "vote with my wallet" in order to keep the flow of good games coming and vainly try to stem the tide of crap.

Unfortunately, Rainfall wasn't a success, as the goal was to make NINTENDO publish these games in North America (considering they are first party Nintendo games). The Operation didn't successfully get the message through Reggie's thick skull that people in North America want Nintendo to make games like this.Xseed gave us The Last Story and now Pandora's Tower, while Nintendo only gave us Xenoblade (the least of the three). So Operation Rainfall was a total success (eventually) - I guess "better late than never" is the good news for the day. I will have to make sure to get this one as well - and move my Wii into my room so I actually play all the games I've accumulated...
