While I liked Super Metroid, I can't quit heap as much praise on it as many would think. Other than the original Metroid, I could never get into the series. It works a great 2D platformer, but beyond that I have no real opinion. Fun, but not epic in my book.

"Super Metroid"

Super Metroid is a seamless blend of platform, shooting and RPG elements to create an absorbing adventure. The graphics are superb, the sound extremely atmospheric, there are huge levels to explore overseen by brilliantly designed bosses and loads of secrets to uncover. An astonishing achievement for the time and for my money, the pinnacle of 16 bit gaming.

Fantastic Metroid Game

My favorite metroid game, Super Metroid integrates everything necessary to be an excellent 2D shooter. Sadly, many of its successors have turned into more vanilla first-person shooters. This game contains nearly an infinite amount of items and power-ups to find located across a vast world to be explored and conquered. Also contains one of the more moving scenes I've seen in a video game (toward the end - you'll know what I mean if you've played it).
