"Star Control"

Explore and colonise planets while fending off a rival empire that's competing for the same resources in this strategy-shoot 'em up hybrid. If the two warring factions meet, the scene shifts to a simple one screen shooting section that's a little primitive but the wildly mismatched combatants make for some interesting match ups. Easy to get into yet surprisingly absorbing to play.
