"Trine"

A pretty 2D platform game that expands on the idea behind 16 bit game The Lost Vikings in which different characters with different skills are utilized to overcome puzzles. Shades of Oddworld can also be seen in the platform/puzzle format as well as its general quirkiness and sense of humour which is no bad thing. It is possible to bodge or fluke your way through from time to time, but that actually makes a refreshing change from the usual rigid one solution format of most puzzle games. Attractive and enjoyable.

Trine is an action 2D platformer game with a fantasy theme. In this first release of the Trine series, the only console it was available on was PS3 via the PlayStation Network. This is another cheap indie developed game that supports local cooperative play.
Story:
The Trine gives you the ability to switch between 3 distinct fantasy characters (Wizard, Warrior, and Thief) to go rid the kingdom of the undead that has taken it over and return the kingdom to peace. The story is quite lacking, and not important, but it is a short 2D platformer game, so story is not all that important.
Presentation:
The game has fairly good graphics, the look and feel of the game is little more 3D than what you'd expect for a typical 2D platformer, if this was a main stream game, more time and money …

If at First You Don't Succeed, Trine, Trine Again

Trine, for a downloadable game, gives you a decent experience for your hard-earned money. It manages to make the 2D platformer interesting again, if only because of the mechanics. If it wasn't for some highly questionable ending levels and a very squirrely camera, it would be a more recommended game.
Presentation
In the looks department, the game is quite good. Both character and level design share some good detail. While the characters don't change (aside from a few weapon changes) throughout the game, the chunky warrior, lithe thief and non-fireball wielding wizard are pretty much presented as well as they can be. The level designs are also well done from forests to village to dank castle - you can even go underwater (thought he warrior sinks like a stone). There's enough variety …

One-Third of a Whole

“Trine,” the third game by Frozenbyte, a Finland-based indie developer, is a multi-platform PC release available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Surprisingly, despite not porting it to the Xbox 360, Frozenbyte did release “Trine” for the PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network. As a 2D Platformer, one of the worst possible genres to play with a keyboard and mouse, “Trine’s” pedigree as a PC game ported to consoles seems the wrong way around. Regardless, its promise of old-school 2D platforming, 3-player co-op, and indie pricing made it too tempting to pass-up.
Presentation
“Trine” is a really sharp-looking game that employs the popular “2.5D” style of graphics in which the game is rendered in 3D polygons but the gameplay only incorporates the X and Y axes. …
