While Resident Evil may have started me on the trend, SIlent Hill was really the game that made me realize survival horror could really be, well, horror. It's a chilling story, eerie and perfectly evil in all the right places. The controls are hit and miss, the dialogue clunky and the fog annoying, but I would go back to this game any day.
