Sony Prices the PlayStation 5 Pro at $700 in a World Where No One Needs PlayStation

I don’t know if Corporate Personhood is like the curse of immortality where the recipient/victim still ages and decays while living forever, or what. It seems that Sony might have Super Alzheimer’s Disease… or maybe they’re just retarded. One of those two things needs to be true in order for the corporation to justify selling its upcoming release of the PlayStation 5 Pro mid-gen upgrade for a whopping $700! That makes the Giant Enemy Crab-laden PlayStation 3 launch price of $600 look tame by comparison, especially with the PS3 being crammed full of cutting edge technology like a Blu-Ray drive and the multi-core Cell Processor, while the PS5 is… just an off-the-shelf, mid-range PC running a proprietary Sony OS. AND it doesn’t even have an internal disc drive anymore, so if you throw down for one of those, it’ll be MORE than $700!

It seems that Sony may be releasing this refresh of their already-unnecessary 9th Gen console to coincide with their 30th Anniversary as console platform-maker, complete with ridiculous limited edition bundles and… this thing, which appears to be a $200 WiiU Gamepad for the PlayStation 5. All I can say to this is… why?

I’m not the only one, as gamers – and even PlayStation fans – from all over the world have been pooping bricks over the outrageous sticker price on the PS5 Pro. However, the real condemnation of this thing’s existence isn’t how expensive it is, but how useless it is. Most of the PlayStation 5 library is already playable on either the PlayStation 4 or PC. What is the point of the console with NO GAEMZ getting a mid-gen refresh that will continue to have NO GAEMZ?

The hilarious price tag should make any lingering PlayStation fans wonder just what they’re getting out of Sony that they couldn’t get out of a Steam Deck or a custom PC. With Steam Decks being cheaper than the PS5 Pro and also supporting massive amounts of backward compatibility (with no scummy upcharges), and with custom-built gaming rigs now closer than ever to the price of console ownership, buying into PlayStation or continuing to engage with PlayStation at this point in time is just foolish.
